To help reduce plastic waste, Kind Bag was founded by Maria in 2019. While growing up on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Maria was constantly in close proximity to the ocean and thus fostered a deep love of nature from an early age. At first, Maria considered a career in law, but she eventually realized that wasn’t where her true passion lay. Her awareness of plastic pollution’s effects was sparked after she spent some time backpacking through Asia. This was her final wake-up call, despite her prior awareness of environmental concerns.
Maria dedicated herself entirely to developing a solution that would aid in the reduction of the plastic mountain. A woman who couldn’t find a bag that was both durable and stylish while carrying her weekly grocery haul came up with the concept for Kind Bag.
Over 4.5 million plastic bottles have been saved by Kind Bag from ending up in landfills or the ocean since then.
