When latex apparel designer Helen Saffery debuted a new line in 1989, it was the beginning of Libidex. She gave it the name “Libidex” for the combination of the words libido and latex. Helen collaborated with Simon Rose, a designer and rubber fetishist, to create a line of breathtaking latex clothes that caught the attention of both groups.
Before Gaultier, Mugler, and McQueen pioneered couture/latex crossover designs, Libidex had already made groundbreaking designs in the latex realm. In reality, Helen’s own body was used as the basis for the first ever latex clothing that included human-designed legs and feet. There were a lot of imitators of the Libidex latex fit, which led to it becoming the de facto standard in the business. An innovative piece of clothing, the Matrix Catsuit featured a modular construction that became a fashion statement. To no one’s surprise, the Matrix quickly established the gold standard for Libidex latex catsuits.
During the subsequent decade, the latex fetish scene expanded rapidly, drawing the likes of Jean-Paul Gaultier and others to parties like the Rubber Ball and Torture Garden. Among the social elite and other eccentric members of society, Libidex also became famous. In the most iconic controversy of the 1990s, Antonia de Sancha, mistress of Tory MP David Mellor, sashayed Sun style in a Libidex catsuit, while the late Paula Yates opted to relaunch Britain’s groundbreaking style and music show The Tube in a Libidex outfit. Caprice made a triumphant return to the cover of The Times magazine after her Libidex front page appearance in Esquire. Photographer Bob Carlos Clarke became close with Libidex and shot many latex outfits for the company, including one for one of Clarke’s fetish calendars. Models Paula Hamilton and Vanessa Upton, as well as actress Rachel Weisz, were also fond of Libidex latex. Another fetish model popular in London, Vanessa, was included in the Loaded Calendar, but this time she wore the garb of a Libidex nurse.

The breast keyhole, hem, sleeves, and collar of this dress are all trimmed with contrasting material, and the dress itself is made of 0.4mm rubber. A partial back zip is included in the package. It is easy to slip into and out of this Nadia Cami Dress since it is made of thinner latex that measures 0.25 millimetres. This dress is stylishly simple, pull-on and pull-off. It has shoulder straps that can be adjusted and are located at the back, and the trim and straps are both coloured in a contrasting shade of your choosing. Please be aware that this is a garment with a loose cut. There is an option to purchase it without the bows; however, it is more commonly sold with them.
